TRANSPORTATION ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM

The Transportation Enhancement Program is a Federally funded program that enables member entities to add amenities to ADOT or local road projects.  The enhancements consist of funding for bikeways, walkways, beautification of roadways, landscaping, restoration of historic transportation facilities, and other enhancements that are not regularly included in the scope of ADOT or local road projects.  These enhancements are intended to create a more enjoyable transportation experience.

There are two categories of Enhancement Project funding.  Local projects are located off ADOT right of way.  The other projects are State projects located on ADOT right of way.  The State projects have a $1 million cap and the local projects have a $500,000 cap.

The CAAG Region does not rank its projects.  All Enhancement Applications are considered top priority to the Region.  The Transportation Director presents the applications to the TERC.  The applications are reviewed, ranked, and then the recommendations are forwarded to the State Transportation Board for final approval.
