CAAG’s Regional Council approved the formation of a planning department in Spring 2005, primarily to compile the planning databases and socioeconomic projections that are required for transportation planning and other planning purposes.  The CAAG Population Technical Advisory Committee (POPTAC) is the department’s advisory committee.

The department has four primary functions:

• To create and maintain a series of planning-oriented databases
• To make estimates and projections of development and population
• To provide analytical interpretation of development and growth information
• To support CAAG member agencies for 2010 US Census preparation
